Today’s song comes from Seattle-based rapper Sol, He’s just released a brand new album called Yours Truly. Thanks to my buddy David Lieberman for showing me this album, because it’s seriously off the hook.
I am a pretty big Seattle rap fan and the Blue Scholars and Macklemore rank among my favorite musicians. But I haven’t really been a big Sol guy, even though he is a Husky..
This new album, though, is so good. I’ve barely given it one listen and haven’t been able to soak in all the lyrics yet — I’m more of a production/beat guy — but I can safely say that this is some quality music. A breath of fresh air. Finally.
It’s rare when it happens, but I love that feeling when you listen to an album and you just know it’s good. Same thing happened for me when I heard Cinemetropolis from the Blue Scholars.
Anyways, I’d recommend listening to a few songs on YouTube if you want a preview. The song I posted above, Need Your Love, is great. I also like Need Your Love and Paint
